Nina Burke is a 22 year old actress from West Sussex, England. She completed training in both England and Los Angeles and is currently on her OPT visa working towards her 01 visa. She moved to Los Angeles at age 19 to attend “The American Academy of Dramatic Arts”. She previously trained in England and has achieved multiple diplomas in the art.
Her talent has been portrayed in both the acting and dance world over the years. She performed with her dance group “Fi Steps” back in England. With them, she was able to perform in some incredible places, including: The Royal Albert Hall, Disneyland Paris, and Pre-parade, Indigo at the 02 Arena, The Hawth Theatre, The Capitol Theatre and many more! She also performed in “Can You Dance?” As well as at Miss Pole UK.
She has also taken part in numerous plays with lead roles, some of which being; Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story, Born Yesterday, Still Life, Uncommon Women.
When she speaks on the difference between acting in America vs acting in England, the main point seemed to focus on how American theatre tends to lean towards the more outwardly dramatized portrayal, while England focused more on the internal focus with more subtleties. She claims both are vital in the world of arts and feels blessed to have been able to learn and grow in both places.
When asked about her future goal, Nina mentioned her choice of staying on a 01 visa in America and getting an agent, or moving back to London and getting an agent over there. She seemed happy with either outcome as long as she was able to keep acting. We asked what her dream role would be and she told a story of how her father and she would say that one day she will play Lara Croft from Tomb Raiders. We hope that dreams comes true for her.
We asked why she chose to start acting and she said “There is nothing else I can imagine myself doing. I don’t think that just because you get older, you should stop playing. When I was in primary school, my favorite thing to do was role play. I love the escape and the freedom of getting to be whoever you want to be. I want the opportunity to be a spy, an astronaut, a scuba diver and anything else! But obviously I can’t do all the things I want to do in one lifetime, so I guess I could settle for role playing each job for a little while… plus there’s no paperwork when you’re only a spy for a film”.
