Walter Sarnoi Oupathana is a man of many talents. Born in Monterey Park, California to a Thai father and a Laotian mother, he was raised by his mother and a Mexican family who taught him Spanish. This multicultural background has given Walter a unique perspective on life and has helped him become fluent in five different languages including English, Lao, Thai, Spanish, and Mandarin.
Walter’s passion for sports started at a young age. At the age of 12, he began learning boxing at the Eddie Heredia Boxing Club. This sparked a lifelong love for the sport, and he went on to attend Northern Michigan University where he boxed for the (USOEC) United States Olympic Education Center. During his amateur boxing career, Walter earned a silver medal at the US U19 National Championship and a gold medal at the 2005 US National Golden Gloves Tournament.
In 2008, Walter turned professional and worked his way up the ranks. His hard work and dedication finally paid off in October 2018 when he defeated Luis Lugo to win the green belt in Mexico. As a professional boxer, Walter has fought 29 times with a record of 25 wins and only 4 losses, with 16 of those wins being by knockout.
In addition to his success in the ring, Walter is also a certified paramedic and has used his skills to help people in need. This highlights his compassionate nature and his desire to give back to the community.
